5 Mile Mountain Distillery is Floyd County, Virginia’s first legal distillery since Prohibition, founded to honor the region’s rich Appalachian moonshining heritage. Located in a repurposed 1940s water pump house at 489 Floyd Hwy South in Floyd, VA, the distillery uses traditional copper stills on open flames to handcraft small-batch spirits. They draw on Floyd County’s history as a major moonshine producer during prohibition, with recipes passed down through generations of local still-makers.
