About

Violet Crown Spirits is a Bastrop, Texas distillery specializing in herbal and floral liqueurs, known as makers of Texas’ first home-grown, award-winning absinthe. They produce a growing family of botanical spirits including absinthes, cordials, amari, and liqueurs crafted with native and exotic ingredients sourced from Texas and beyond.

Spirits

Cinnamon Shrub

A Texas-made shrub featuring tangy sweet-and-sour character with Texas cayenne pepper and Texas cayenne honey, creating a tangy sweet and spicy cocktail syrup ingredient.

Elderflower Liqueur

A light floral liqueur at 20% ABV made from elderflower native to Europe and North America, with elderberry juice providing color, a gorgeous floral bouquet of flower essence, and a touch of lemon for citrus notes.

Emerald Absinthe

An award-winning green absinthe first made in Texas, featuring 13 herbs and spices including anise, fennel, grand wormwood, hyssop, cardamom, and peppermint, with creamy mouthfeel and notes of licorice, green pepper, and golden raisins that open to honeysuckle and fresh cut hay when louched.

J Amaro

A Texas twist on traditional Italian amaro at 30% ABV featuring basil, rosemary, mint, and bitter orange from the old world, followed by Texas delegation of Ancho chiles that underscore the herbal blend and accentuate cacao with a long simmering low burn.

J Amaro Reserve

A reserve bottling of J Amaro aged in Texas Oak barrels at 30% ABV, adding vanilla and spice flavors while retaining the herbal backbone.

Jasmine Liqueur

Made from Jasminum officinale (Poet’s Jasmine) that thrives on lattices throughout Texas gardens, imparting its delicate romantic flavor as the first in their liqueur line at 38% ABV.

Midnight Marigold

A collaborative house amaro created with Austin’s Midnight Cowboy bar, featuring bright floral and honeyed citrus notes, boldly bitter and softly sweet character with coriander, caraway, turmeric, marigold, and a candied ginger and rye bread finish.

Monk Parakeet Herbal Cordial

A boldly herbaceous spirit with bright citrus and pine notes, vegetal pepper and mint undertones, and warm ambrosial finish, named after South American birds seen throughout Central Texas with proceeds supporting Audubon Texas.

Opal Absinthe

A Texas-made white absinthe in the French blanche or Swiss bleue style, crystal clear liquid that transforms into milky iridescence with cold water, offering soft woody alpine herbs with gentle white pepper spice and hints of baby powder and bubble gum.
