About

Founded in 2018 and opened to the public in 2021, Marfa Spirit Co is a spirits-focused distillery in Marfa, Texas, born out of curiosity and appreciation for the Chihuahuan Desert. Originally drawn to the region’s wild sotol plants and the centuries-old tradition of making sotol alcohol, the distillery has since expanded to produce a wide range of spirits including rum made from Texas and Louisiana sugar cane molasses, high desert gin, brandy, citrus liqueurs from the Rio Grande Valley, and sotol.

Spirits

Chihuahuan Desert Gin

London Dry style gin made from a corn-based neutral spirit, ten times distilled, with juniper, coriander, angelica root, lemon, lime, and grapefruit botanicals.

Chihuahuan Desert Sotol

Made from wild sotol plants harvested from the Chihuahuan Desert, representing the centuries-old tradition of making alcohol from the region’s native sotol plants.

Chihuahuan Desert Vodka

Made from a corn-based neutral spirit, ten times filtered and proofed with Marfa water.

Desert Pechuga

A collaboration with Cibolo Creek Ranch and Duck Camp embodying the spirit of West Texas, named for the traditional pechuga distillation method.

Desert Rose

A sotol collaboration spanning both sides of the Rio Grande, twice distilled in Mexico with a third distillation in Marfa, aged in red wine barrels from @altamarfa; fragrant and original border spirit.

Rio Grande Grapefruit Liqueur

Ruby Red grapefruit palate and nose with a balance of bitterness and sweetness, finishing with notes of tarragon and black pepper, sweetened with inverted cane sugar.

Rio Grande Orange Liqueur

Features three types of oranges (Louisiana Satsuma, French Bergamot, Chinotto) with a delicate vanilla note, sweetened with inverted cane sugar.

Rum Reposado

Distilled from Texas and Louisiana sugar cane molasses, twice distilled in a 1960s-era German copper pot still, then aged 16.5 months in 63-gallon Wisconsin white oak barrels.

Single Rum

Same process as Rum Reposado but filtered through a 5-micron filter and proofed with Marfa water, offering notes of vanilla cream, orange peel, fresh raspberries, and pineapple.
