New Basin Distilling Company is a farm-to-bottle craft distillery located in Madras, Oregon, established by five local partners—a science teacher, rancher, two farmers, and a crop-duster pilot—who rely on their own 400 acres of grain cultivation and nearby Opal Springs water to craft their spirits. Operating since 2013 and officially opening in 2016, the distillery produces whiskey, vodka, gin, and 17 varieties of mixing vinegars, embodying the pioneering spirit of Central Oregon’s High Desert.

An American Light Whiskey that comes off the still above 160 proof, giving it a distinctive light character, named after early Oregon explorer Jedediah Strong Smith, with grain sourced from the east and cut with pure Opal Springs water.
