According to their legend, the whiskey gets its distinctive smooth character from a literal piece of a lightning bolt that struck in their town, which was reportedly captured by local resident Mr. Dufour. The distillery was established to give Louisiana its own homegrown whiskey brand, with their sour mash becoming silky smooth according to local lore.
