About

Early French Explorers called the area ‘La Grande Travers’ — The Great Crossing. Grand Traverse Distillery is a celebration of this, where water sifted through dark, rich Northern Michigan soil and enriched with precious minerals forms the foundation of every spirit. Crafted by hand, then aged, distilled, and bottled entirely on-site under their own roof, the distillery uses locally sourced corn and grain with no shortcuts in their months-and-years-long journey to each bottle.

Spirits

Amendment XXI Bourbon

A bourbon made with a red, white, and blue corn mashbill celebrating the 250th anniversary of the USA and the distillery’s 21st year, aged 4 years with flavors of rich toffee, smooth vanilla, and an earthy floral finish.

Barrel Finished Gin

Peninsula Gin barrel-aged for 10 months, with a balance of citrus and juniper on the front of the palate and sweet vanilla and oaky notes on the finish.

Bottled in Bond Ole George Rye Whiskey

A pure Straight Rye Whiskey with 95% rye and 5% malted rye mashbill, an earthy and hearty rye that is clean and crisp with balanced pepper notes.

Bottled in Bond Straight Bourbon

A 4-year aged bourbon made from 60% corn, 30% rye, and 10% malted barley, aged in new American White Oak barrels with notes of oak, caramel, spice, and black pepper.

Bramble Bourbon

Bottled in Bond Bourbon aged in barrels that previously held blackberry wine from Torch Lake Cellars, with fruity blackberry notes and natural sweetness lingering on the finish.

Cherry Vodka

A beautifully balanced vodka flavored with tart cherry juice from the Leelanau Peninsula and dark cocoa, offering not too much sweetness with hints of vanilla and cocoa on the finish.

Cherry Whiskey

Bourbon-based whiskey with Montmorency tart cherry concentrate from the Leelanau Peninsula, creating a subtle natural cherry flavor on the back of the palate.

Chipotle Vodka

Wheat vodka infused with chipotle peppers, creating a smoky and spicy medium-spiced vodka ideal for Bloody Mary lovers.

Cocoa Bean Vodka

Wheat vodka infused with organic cocoa nibs and navel oranges, delivering a dark cocoa flavor with a hint of orange on the back of the palate.

Dark Reserve Rum

Silver Reserve Rum aged in oak barrels for at least 2 years, with undertones of butterscotch and vanilla and rich oak overtones from the barrel.

Double Barrel Ole George

100% Straight Rye Whiskey aged an additional 18 months in a French oak barrel, bringing aromatic notes of smoke and caramel to the already-matured whiskey.

Isles O' Rye Whiskey

Locally grown rye and peated malted barley from Scotland merged to combine American rye spice with the richness of traditional peated single-malt whiskey, with earthy and smoky notes.

Lake Michigan Bourbon

A wheated bourbon made from corn, wheat, and malted barley, aged for 2+ years with sweet notes from corn and wheat shining through with a soft finish.

Lando Whiskey

A Single Pot American Whisky made from 50% malted barley and 50% barley, aged 4+ years with sweet malt, light honey, and mild heat flavors finishing soft with lingering sweetness.

Non-Profit Single Barrels

Single barrel bourbons or ryes selected exclusively by each tasting room, with a portion of proceeds going to local non-profit groups.

Peninsula Gin

A complex, bright, and citrusy gin infused with six botanicals on a wheat vodka base, with mellow juniper properties dancing alongside citrus in a clean and crisp spirit.

Silver Reserve Rum

Crafted from Grade A Caribbean sugar cane molasses, a buttery rum with vanilla, molasses, and butterscotch notes reminiscent of Rum from Colonial America.

Single Barrel Bourbon

High-rye Bourbon mashbill pulled straight from the barrel at cask strength after 4-5 years aging, bringing out sweeter notes from the oak barrel and corn with vanilla finish.

Single Barrel Ole George

Rye Whiskey pulled straight from a single barrel at cask strength after 4-5 years aging, bringing out sweeter toasted oak notes balanced with earthy rye flavor.

Solera Ole George

Ole George Rye aged in American White Oak for 4 years, then moved through a cascading Solera system through French Oak and Cognac barrels for a constantly evolving harmony of flavors.

True North Rye Vodka

The distillery’s original and award-winning spirit, made from rye grain with hints of bread dough and black pepper and an incredibly smooth finish.

Wheat Vodka

A Russian-style wheat base vodka with earthy, soft neutral finish and a sweeter note overall on the palate.

Wine Cask Bourbon

Aged 4 years in American white oak then finished 5 years in French Oak barrels previously used for barrel-aged red wine, with notes of oak, vanilla, spice, plum, and cherry.
